These filters reject specific frequency bands and pass frequencies above and below the stopband. We use a stub-tunnel design with a series of E-plane T-junctions in which the shorted secondary waveguides are cut-off for the fundamental frequency. The desired energy passes through unaffected while the stopband is reflected by the high series reactance.
